The FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center, located just 10 miles northwest of Atlantic City, is a state-of-the-art aviation facility that also serves as national scientific test base for the FAA.  The FAA Technical Center is responsible for research and development in the field of aviation, testing software and equipment, and managing air traffic control communications.  The FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center covers over 5,000 acres and is comprised of several research and development centers, testing facilities and offices for the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense.

The Center opens its doors to the public to offer tours throughout the week; visitors can explore the facilities from 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays. All visitors to the FAA Technical Center must have already received clearance from the Security Operations Center prior to arrival.  After authorization is granted, which can take up to four weeks, visitors can take a tour of the facility to learn more about the aviation center’s research, engineering and development projects.  Click here for more information about visitor clearance.
